Welcome to Toddle In
Our story
.
Welcome to our small biz! We(Emma Fisher and Lisa Shaw) opened Toddle In back in September 2022. With us being twins, we were not going to go into business with anyone else, except each other, thriving on the same passions for creating a safe, fun, creative space for Babies/children and their grown ups!!
It all began back in 2019 when Emma had her little girl Jessica, who is now 3 and a half. Originally a lecturer in Beauty Therapy, I attended a Baby massage class with Jessica and I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to start my own classes. When Jessica was 3 years old, I decided to train with the IAIM to become an Infant massage instructor. The big C then hit and lockdown approached meaning that only online classes could commence. In April 2021, we were given the go ahead that in house classes could start and the rest is history!!!
Lisa, a qualified primary teacher, decided that after she had her little boy Riley, now 2, that she didn’t want a full time career in Primary teaching due to wanting to spent some quality time with Riley before he would be going off to nursery, after all the years fly by!! So she quickly jumped on board with taking some classes.
In August 2021, we decided to take on a Baby college franchise running classes throughout the Southside of Glasgow. Lisa also came up with the idea of Messy minis, a messy play based class, that grew arms and legs and before we knew it we were both running classes over 5 days per week, in various venues.
From there we started our search for the perfect venue to create a permanent space to be home to Baby college Glasgow South and Messy minis. We found this perfect space on Clarkston Road, in April 2022. We had lots of hoops to jump through with planning, etc and once all was finalised we received the keys to ‘Toddle In’ in August 2022.
We wanted to create a safe, warm, welcoming space for everyone with a child in the community. We run play sessions, classes and events throughout the year alongside having a baby and children’s shop, meaning we are a one stop shop for all! We even have a coffee machine so you can get lovely hot drinks and stay for a natter after class, if you wish, with your new found parent friends!!
We stock a variety of brands but we had a real want to stock handmade children’s clothing as we used to have to shop online for this for our own children and could never see or feel the amazing quality. This then pushed us forward to creating Bonnie Bear, our very own handmade children’s wear. We have teamed up with a fantastic local seamstress, who has a wealth of experience, creating our first range of rompers in January 2023, selling out in just 3 days! Watch this space, we have so much to come!!!
Thank you for sharing this experience with us, supporting us and even for just popping by, in shop or on our website!
Here’s to a bright future!
Lots of love,
Emma and Lisa x
